engine location number

as i was told it was in the cambelt cover i removed it checked all over nothing i can see regards to a engine number ,unless its the number on the cam belt cover??anyone know

Hiya, the other place (if it's no longer on the cambelt cover for some reason) is stamped into the metal, a small rectangle sticks out at the back of the engine on the left (when mounted in a Volvo at least ;-) Near the water pump I think. Mine only says B2345T though, no extra number after the T which you sometimes see - think it refers to the 'edition' of the engine i.e. bigger number is more recent. It's stamped in above what could be a 6 digit part number, each of the numbers is stamped in little dots. HTH, Pete PS Best of luck tomorrow.
