The ability to launch specific FX's using shortcuts. Then we can launch them directly from a control surface...or the Elgato Streamdeck Most of the time we use the same specific plugins, this would help to save time, moreover some surfaces (like elgato stream) allows users to personalize the LCD icons on the keyboard. This would be a huge improvement, and I'm still surprised that no daws offers this function yet. And, to my point of view, it does not require months of developpment...

+1 for Scala and microtonal. would be awesome to color the channel controls, perfect would be of course to have a modular channel strip option on every channel - anyway js and reaper stock plugs are amazing so proper channel strip on the mixer would be a bingo imo. multitouch mackie with extensions please waveforms or spectrograph beside level meters? video thumbnails kick ass midi editor with logic etc chord track reaeq thumbnails in mixer? ugh so much to ask but still i literally sold every license of monster daws and now reaper apologetic. thank you guys for making this. i think reaper is an emacs of daws. imo "others daws are like stars and reaper is like a sun - not just bigger or brighter, it simply makes everything else vanish."

I do have a Seaboard, that in fact allows for creating microtonal content by using MPE to pitch-bend any pressed note. But I have npo idea how Reaper might be supposed to "support" this other than by just storing and playing the Midi events. -Michael
Support as i see it would be to allow the "Item Properties: Increase/Decrease item rate by ~x%" and "Item properties: Pitch item up/down one semitone/octave" to follow a global tuning file. And to let the virtual keyboard and MIDI editor keys adjust themselves visually according to the tuning in some way but i am not sure about the exact implementation. Composing in different pitch intervals should be an essential part of a DAW as customizable as Reaper. Lack of microtonality is a huge limitation on expression.

What do you think should be the format (file and output to a VSTi) of such composed content ? What can be done by a script would be: - compose your piece in Midi notes that each represent a pitch of your choice - when playback, run the Midi stream through a JSFX plugin that creates MPE Midi from the content, converting each note-on to a pair of Pitchbend/Note-On events adhering to a file you provide to specify your microtonal choice. -Michael
The way i see it ideally is to be able to upload a .scl file in preferences, and then have virtual keyboard, midi input etc pitch bend the MIDI note as you play before it reaches the instrument. And after recording it, the MIDI is pitchbent during playback. The MIDI itself could be stored normally, ignorant about the tuning before it. Maybe? To have this in every way but natively seems messy to me. To be able to automatically/manually adjust the position of keys in the virtual keyboard and MIDI editor would be a nice way to have visual overview over each tuning though i do not know if scala files contains data about which keys in each tuning are "meant to be played". I am a beginner to microtonality so i'm not sure what the best way is. Logic used to have global settings for microtonality like this: But i think they removed it recently... Classic.
