heated seat problems

the passenger side heated seat has stopped working on my 2000 W reg V70 classic. i assume it cant be the fuse as both seats will run off of the same one wont they? can anyone offer advice on what to check first? i wondeded if there may be some wiring runs which were prone to wear or somthing. or perhaps an in-line fuse? i would be supprised if the element had worn out already as i would expect the drivers side to go first as it has more use. thanks

jkm, You are correct the seat heaters use the same fuse , if you are going to repair this your self you will need a wiring diagram and a volt meter , then fault trace thru to the seat elements. An easy check you can do yourself is to look for wires under the seat that may have been pulled off , there is a small temperature sensor embed in the seat pad that was a common problem for loose wiring . Do a search of the forum as someone had a similar issue a few weeks back and I posted a description of the cct diagram from the haynes book. Also others warn of probing about with the connectors under the seat as you could trip off the SIPS
