MIDI Transpose (SOLVED)

MessageAuthor

I know I have a history of being somewhat of a midi crybaby :) but this isn't that. I loaded in a standard midi file into Reaper and another daw, the purpose for doing that is irrelevant but what happened was the bass track imported into Reaper an octave lower. So everything else sounded the same, same instruments, Kontakt, so it didn't transpose the entire song like it was just globally set to import an octave away, obviously, the drums would have been off if it had done that, but it just transposed that one track down an octave. Odd. Just thought I'd mention it. When people (singers) want to do cover songs for band audition cd's or whatever, I mostly use midi cover song tracks from the net. This was an Anita Baker song. If Schwa wants the midi file to have a look at why it did that, I'll dig it up and attach it. Thanks.

RE: MIDI Transpose (SOLVED)

That's very odd indeed. To make sure that I understand: -- out of the whole MIDI file, the bass notes dropped by 1 octave in Reaper compared to the other DAW. -- all other tracks were the same in both DAWs. I don't know about schwa but I'd like to have a look at the MIDI file (or a short snippet of it)

RE: MIDI Transpose (SOLVED)

Yes, it was odd. I wasn't paying very much attention to the actual music at first and the only reason I noticed it right away is because some bass notes weren't playing, going below the range of notes in the same Kontakt bass sound, down into the key switch area. I'll fire up the studio, make sure it wasn't user error, and attach the file.

No problem. That's an interesting "feature" in Studio One. I'm not sure that I would like it happening automagically.
