Help!!!!

MessageAuthor

Recently i had a problem with the revs fluctating whilst driving, and when i came to junctions the car would stall and would'nt start for over half an hour, the Lambda sensor light was also on. I replaced the sensor and the fault seemed to have gone away, however the light remained on. The fault has now returned although not as bad as before, ive also noticed that when the fault occurs the temp gauge either drops to the bottom or goes right to the top, sometimes the fan even kicks in when i know for a fact it is'nt overheating. Anyone got any ideas?

RE: Help!!!!

hi,firstly its not a lambda sensor light its a fuel/ignition fault light and many things can cause it. try replacing the coolant temp sensor, i believe when they play up they can cause strange problems, altho it also sounds like the AIC vale may need cleaning to me. wayne

RE: Help!!!!

its an engine managment fault light NOT just a lambda sensor light you need to get your codes read but by the sound of it you have a faulty temp sensor

RE: Help!!!!

ok, appologies for calling it a lamda sensor light, thats what the AA guy told me it was. where abouts is the temp sensor located? If this is the fault would it cause the kind of problems ive been having, ie. lumpy idle, stalling, not starting after it stalls, increased rpm whilst driving?

RE: Help!!!!

what year is your car, you may well be able to check the codes yourself... if your temp gauge is behaving strangely you may well have a sticky thermostat... cheers jod
